Seasonal Bear (Customer) Service Representative

Location: St. Louis, MO

We are looking for seasonal bears with excellent communication skills to answer inquiries, order merchandise, activate gift cards, and to provide great service to customers of our award winning workshops around the country! Seasonal opportunities begin in October-November 2008 and go through February 2009.

SEASONAL shifts available working weekdays and weekends. Qualified candidates must be available to work 35-40 hours a week between the hours of 8am – 8pm Monday through Friday and 9am – 6pm Saturday and Sunday. Schedules will vary depending on business needs.

Qualified candidates will have prior customer service work experience, or retail experience, proficiency in Word, Outlook and Excel, and a high level of enthusiasm.


Interactive Marketing Manager

Ridemakerz, a partner company of Build-A-Bear Workshop, is seeking an Interactive Marketing Manager to join their crew.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in comprehensive media strategy development to meet company marketing objectives.
  • Making recommendations on how to best allocate advertising budgets for most efficient advertising spend and highest return on investment; utilizing media research tools, internal resources and industry/market knowledge.
  • Developing and issuing RFPs to media publishers; gather and analyze proposals to determine media selections, negotiate rates & positioning as required. Creatively structuring deals with publishers that get unique exposure.
  • Setting up online advertising with publishers and setting up pay per click (PPC) advertising accounts, monitoring ongoing campaign performance, optimizing for improved performance and reporting on results.
  • Managing interactive events and campaigns, including regularly scheduled events and special events
  • Working with development agency, Interactive Producer, Interactive Community Operations Manager, and Marketing Department to implement, test and schedule online events based on shop marketing campaigns.
  • Develop strategic post-event and post-campaign analysis and provide recommendations for future initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on virtual world/massively multi-player online (MMO) game space.

Qualified candidates must have:

  • A bachelors degree in marketing, advertising, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years experience campaign-based marketing/advertising and/or event planning
  • Project management experience. (Remote/virtual team management experience preferred)
  • Experience planning and buying online advertising space.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience using Web Analytics tools (i.e. Omniture or Google Analytics) and pay per click account management tools (i.e. Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing, Microsoft AdCenter, Omniture SearchCenter).
  • Passion for social interaction in online communities
  • Familiarity with online gaming industry and major virtual world properties
  • Superb interpersonal, organizational, collaborative, and communication skills
  • Highly motivated (self-starter) with exuberant approach to managing and growing online communities, adept at learning new software (whether games or tools), attention to detail, leads by example


Database Administrator

Ridemakerz, a partner company of Build-A-Bear Workshop, is seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) to join their team. The DBA’s primary functions are to design, administer, and develop departmental databases in a MySQL environment. This position will establish and maintain development standards for database design; ensure integrity and backup of all production and development data; develop and maintain technology road map for existing and new databases/servers. The DBA will develop reporting to meet business needs by scheduling and monitoring manual and automated batch processes.

The DBA will work with the Interactive Team to create and maintain Technical Design Reviews; create prototype and complete server and database implementations, create and maintain a schedule for each project; review and approve developer milestone submissions; develop and implement testing plans; manage relationships with vendors; troubleshoot issues and implement performance enhancements; ensure effective operation, access, and recovery of all database systems; identify and actively seek to minimize/eliminate potential development/technology risks.

Manager, Direct Marketing Bear

Location: St. Louis, MO

The Manager, Direct Marketing Bear is responsible for the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) strategy of the Company. This involves strategic and creative development of all national Guest communications, as well as for the implementation of these initiatives to motivate Guests to visit our stores and increase sales. The Manager, Direct Marketing Bear is responsible for identifying and leveraging data of our Guest’s purchase behaviors to maximize and continually improve upon the return on investment of each consecutive initiative.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage the CRM strategy and spearhead the company’s learning for the Stuff Fur Stuff loyalty program
  • Develop a plan for all direct marketing communications for North America, United Kingdom and France, utilizing a multitude of mediums to communicate to our Guests, including, but not limited to Direct Mail, Email, and Voice Messaging
  • Build and implement test strategies and analyze the results of direct mail marketing
  • Identify and create ways to utilize data to streamline various marketing efforts and company processes
  • Contribute to overall strategic planning for BABW as it relates to direct marketing
  • Develop vendor partners that support direct marketing initiatives to enhance BABW’s ability to meet direct marketing goals
Qualified Candidates Must have:
  • At least 5 years experience in the development of direct marketing strategy, creative and implementation processes
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of CRM/LOYALTY program experience
  • Experience in effectively communicating with information technology resources to achieve mutual goals
  • At least 3 years experience in the identification, analysis and selection process for outside resource relationships

Public Relations Media Specialist Build-A-Bear Workshop® is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Public Relations Media Specialist to join our PR team at the World Headquarters in St. Louis, MO. The Public Relations Media Specialist will be responsible for and manage all corporate media relations, pr writing and placement activity, grand opening publicity for stores, media research and list development, ongoing follow up media contact, media tracking and reporting. Some travel is required.
